|
| Streaking (Metallic or Texture) |
| Lines of differing metallic or texture additives built up in the finished coating. | |

| Incomplete dispersion of the metallic or texture additive in the coating. | |

Thoroughly stir coating prior to application preferably using a power stirrer. Alternatively use a 20mm stirring stick using a lifting motion to ensure that the contents on the bottom of the can are thoroughly mixed in. | |
| Metallic or texture additive not being kept in suspension while in the fluid pot. | |
| Use a pressure pot with a continuous agitation feature. Place a marble in the cup of the suction pot to stir the coating while spraying. | |
| Insufficient overlap in the spray application passes. | |
| Ensure that each spray pass overlaps the previous pass by at least 50%. | |
| Incorrect spray equipment. | |
| Do not use airless spray application equipment to apply metallic or texture coatings. | |
| Spray passes on metallic finishes coming from more than one direction and causing the metallic additive to "lay" in different directions. | |
| Apply spray passes from one direction only i.e. from left to right followed by each subsequent pass from left to right. | |
| Excessively heavy coats applied causing flotation of the metallic or texture additive. | |
| Apply all Mirotone coatings to the correct Wet Film Thickness as specified on the relevant product data sheet. If problem persists reduce the coating Wet Film Thickness and increase the number of coats. | |
