A Guide to Problem Solving - The Application of Interior Wood Coatings
You got here from Home/Group/English/PRODUCTS/Problem Solving Guide
Settling
Separation of the coating in the can, in which the pigment or other dense insoluable materials accumulate and aggregate at the bottom.
Cause
Preventative Action
Coating is out of shelf life.
Use fresh coatings at all times. Ensure good stock rotation of products using oldest product first.
In some instances settlement is unavoidable and in most cases the settlement will be a "soft" settle which is easily reincorporated back into the coating.
Thoroughly stir Mirotone coatings prior to application preferably using a power stirrer. Alternatively use a 20mm wide stiring stick, using a lifting motion to bring the bottom contents of the can towards the top. If settlement does not reincorporate into the coating contact your Mirotone representative.
