| Uneven sanding of the substrate with coarse sandpaper. | |
|
Use 180 or 240 grit sandpaper on an orbital sander to achieve a uniform base or if sanding by hand always sand with the grain of the wood. | |
| Uneven stain application. | |
| Apply the stain in an even wet application. Remove excess stain with a clean lint free cloth to achieve a uniform finished colour. | |
| Stain applied too dry or with a thinner that dries too fast. | |
| Always use the correct thinner for the application technique. A slow thinner is required when a stain has to be wiped even over large areas. Apply the stain in a wet application using low air pressure. | |
