You got here from Home/Group/English/PRODUCTS/Problem Solving Guide
Brittleness
Coating film cracking or chipping away from substrate or previous coat (linked with lack of adhesion). Can also appear as stress fractures in the coating film without delamination.
Cause
Preventative Action
Over catalysing two pack coating systems causing the film to become too hard and brittle.
Strictly measure by volume the two individual components as per instructions on the relevant product data sheet.
Too many coats applied leaving an overly thick Dry Film Thickness. The thicker the coating film the harder and more brittle the coating film is likely to be.
Apply the correct number of coats as per the instructions on the relevant product data sheet.
